Carport Installation Across Central Texas
Already bought a kit? We install. Want something built right? We weld it on-site.
"Carport installation" can mean two very different things. If you've already bought a prefab kit from Home Depot, Lowe's, or an online retailer, you need someone to assemble it, anchor it properly, and make sure it's level and square. If you're starting from scratch, you have a choice: install a kit, or have a real carport welded on-site. At Hill Country Mobile Welding, we do both, and we'll be honest with you about which one makes sense for your property and your timeline.

I Bought a Kit
We install prefab carport kits from most major manufacturers. A typical kit install includes:
- Site prep and leveling (if needed)
- Proper anchoring, concrete pier or slab anchoring, not just ground stakes
- Assembly and tensioning per manufacturer spec
- Roof panel installation
- Trim and edge sealing
- Final walk-through
Kit installs typically run $800–$2,500 depending on size, complexity, and anchoring method. We can usually install a single-vehicle kit in one day; doubles in two.
Width & Length Considerations
If you're starting fresh, a custom welded carport will outlast and outperform any kit at a similar price tier. Welded construction means no bolts to loosen, no seams to leak, and a structure that handles real Texas wind. See our Metal Carports, Steel Carports, and RV Carports pages for build details.

Anchoring Matters Most
The #1 reason carports fail in Texas is bad anchoring. Ground stakes pull out in high winds. Slab anchors fail if the slab is too thin. Concrete pier anchoring, drilling and pouring proper piers for each post, is the gold standard, and what we recommend for any carport that's going to sit through Hill Country wind events. We anchor to:
- New concrete piers (we drill and pour)
- Existing concrete slabs (we evaluate thickness first: minimum 4")
- Gravel or dirt pads (with concrete piers, never stakes alone)
Permits & Code Compliance
In unincorporated Hill Country areas, most carports don't need permits. Inside Austin, Round Rock, Cedar Park, Pflugerville, and other municipalities, you'll typically need a permit for anything attached to your house or over a certain square footage. We handle permit applications on your behalf for an additional fee, or we can walk you through doing it yourself.
