Heavy-Duty Steel Carports, Welded On-Site
Structural steel construction for property owners who want something built to last a generation.
There's a real difference between a "metal carport" and a "steel carport," and most homeowners don't find out until something fails. Light-gauge metal is fine for residential use in calm conditions, but if you're in the Hill Country, deal with regular high winds, or want to cover serious equipment, you need structural steel: heavier gauge, larger profiles, welded together by hand. That's what we build. Every steel carport we put up is engineered for 80+ mph wind loads, welded with continuous beads at every joint, and designed to outlast the property it sits on.

Why Steel Over Light Metal
Prefab metal carports use thin-walled tubing, typically 14- to 18-gauge, bolted together with pre-drilled brackets. They're light, cheap, and they work fine in calm air. A structural steel carport uses heavier tubing or I-beam construction, welded at every joint, with anchoring rated for actual wind events. The trade-off is cost (steel runs about 40–60% more than light metal) and weight (you can't ship a real steel carport flat-packed). The upside is that nothing fails. No bolts loosen. No seams open. No tubing crumples in a storm.
The Welded-Construction Advantage
A bolted carport has a failure point at every joint. Over time, vibration from wind and the natural expansion/contraction of metal in Texas heat loosens those bolts. A welded carport has no failure points, the steel becomes one continuous structure. We use MIG and stick welding on-site, ground every weld smooth, and coat every joint to prevent rust before it starts.

Texas Weather, Texas Engineering
The Hill Country sees 60+ mph wind gusts every spring, and hail events most years. Our steel carports are anchored with concrete piers (not just stakes), framed with heavier-than-prefab tubing, and roofed with 26-gauge steel panels or standing seam if you want premium. Standard prefab carports often fail at the column-base connection during high winds, we eliminate that failure point with welded base plates and proper anchor placement.
Pricing & Process
Steel carports typically run $5,500–$12,000 for residential builds and $12,000+ for equipment covers and larger commercial structures. Every project starts with a free on-site walk-through. We measure your space, talk through use-cases, and write a detailed quote with material specs, dimensions, anchoring method, and timeline.
